Terms & Conditions
These terms govern all servicing, maintenance, and vehicle diagnostic bookings made with Halton Motor Works. By handing over your vehicle keys at our reception, you agree to these operating conditions.
1. Parties and Scope
These terms apply between Halton Motor Works and the vehicle owner or authorised custodian named on the job sheet. Our service covers mechanical inspection, maintenance, component replacement, and diagnostic assessment as agreed in our initial estimate.
2. Booking and Quotes
Bookings are scheduled for a specific calendar day. Written or telephone estimates reflect the initial inspection; should hidden defects, stripped threads, or seized fastenings emerge during disassembly, we pause work and contact you with a revised cost before proceeding.
3. Performance of the Work and Access to the Premises
You grant our workshop technicians permission to operate the vehicle on public highways for diagnostic listening and post-repair quality testing. Workshop bays and mechanical pits are strictly restricted to trained staff due to health and safety regulations; customers must remain in the reception area.
4. Prices, Payment After Completion and Invoices
All work must be settled in full prior to the release of the vehicle keys. We accept payment by cash on completion or immediate bank transfer against our written invoice. We reserve the right to retain custody of the vehicle under common law lien until all outstanding workshop balances are cleared.
5. Cancellation and Rescheduling
Customers may reschedule or cancel a service bay slot without charge up to twenty-four hours before the scheduled drop-off time. Cancellations inside twenty-four hours where dedicated fluids or pre-assembled parts have been specially ordered may incur a handling charge reflecting trade supplier return costs.
6. Liability, Insurance and Complaints
Customer vehicles are insured against accidental damage and fire while stored in our secure compound or operated on test drives by our staff. We are not liable for pre-existing internal engine fatigue, brittle wiring insulation on aged vehicles, or personal belongings left inside the cabin. Any complaint regarding workmanship must be reported to our workshop manager within fourteen days of collection.
7. Governing Law
These workshop terms and any disputes arising from our mechanical services are governed exclusively by the laws of England and Wales, and the parties submit to the jurisdiction of the English courts.
